Work With Me

Building a team to manage and lead your community can be a daunting prospect – there are a lot of variables and plenty of different things to consider. I’m here to support you through the process!

Who am I?

I am a long-time community builder with a focus on building strategic and high-performing teams. I have extensive experience and a passion for building high-functioning community teams and helping others to do the same.

I currently serve as Head of Community Education for the WordPress open-source project, sponsored by Automattic. In this work, I lead a team that I recruited to build and manage an education program for the WordPress community – an important part of the mission to democratise publishing. When not actively engaging with the community and developing teams, my focus is on my faith and my family.

How can I help you?

Drawing on my experience of building, hiring, and growing multi-functional and high-performing community teams, I will help you put together your dream team. This is a multi-step process, and no matter what stage you’re at, I can join for all or any part of it:

Strategic planning
Getting any team started requires laying a good foundation – let’s figure out what you want to achieve and how that will affect the team we build.

Defining team structure
Community teams can be very general or highly specialised – we’ll work this out together and define just what roles your team needs in order to meet your goals.

Hiring and recruiting
Hiring can be a tough process – I’ll partner with you to craft relevant and targeted job descriptions, screen and interview candidates, and select new hires.

Onboarding team members
Recruitment doesn’t just end with a job offer – you also need to successfully onboard new team members, and I’ll help you do just that. We’ll establish plans and goals tailored to your new hires.

Long-term growth
Your team is all set and you’re already creating value, but things don’t end there – the more you achieve your goals, the more you’ll be able to achieve, so I’ll assist you in growing your team even further.

Why work with me?

From the moment I started leading a community team for the first time, I knew I was in the right place. The work came naturally to me, and I uncovered a deep passion for designing, recruiting, and leading teams of community professionals. I have carried this passion into the rest of my career and subsequent teams, bringing my experience and desire to see people grow into all of my work.

I have built high-functioning teams that are spread out across all time zones yet remain closely connected, cover multiple cross-functional areas while specialising in engaging their community, and deliver high-quality work while growing rapidly.

I want to share my passion and experience with you to help you achieve similar results with your team.
